RStefan01.com - NewsRStefan01.net?
- RStefan01 @ 10 May 2008 06:40 I was poking around on Google and found this. Apparently at some point someone registered rstefan01.net. The only question is, why? I also did a search for domain availability at nic.com. It looks like rstefan01.ws, rstefan01.net.in, rstefan01.org.in, and rstefan01.firm.in are currently taken. If they're registered by domain squatters, they're wasting their money. I can't think of any other reason why someone would bother though =p DNS Resolving
- RStefan01 @ 04 May 2008 11:21 Big Changes!
- RStefan01 @ 03 May 2008 08:28 Where to begin... It started out simple enough, or so you'd think. My only option for upgrading to phpbb3 was to have my host move me to a new server. It took FOREVER to import my mysql database on the new server, because the damn backup kept getting corrupted as I uploaded it. I ended up having to split the backup into ten different files so I didn't waste half an hour uploading it each time, only to find out it was corrupted again. While I was wasting all that time uploading, I decided I'd write a script to import my old newspro database into phpbb, so I could use a forum as my news script instead of an ancient script that hasn't been updated in years. That part actually worked out fairly well, except for it not wanting to translate html tags. I can live with that. While I was at it, I also redid basically all of the coding for the site, converting it from .cgi to .php scripts. Not a single .cgi script on this server now. I decided to not convert and/or drop a few things while I was doing that, so the site is a bit leaner now =p Basically everything is completed now except for redoing a theme for the forums. Oh yeah, and you can comment on news posts now... Stuff
- RStefan01 @ 19 Oct 2007 05:36 I went through tonight and updated many of the pages on this site since I've been slacking for a loooong time on doing anything at all here. The fact that this is my first front page update in a year shows that much. Probably the only thing of real interest is the "All Games" page which I went through and added a lot of the stuff I've played over the years that I never included.<br><br>As for what I've been up to? Pretty much the same. Still fully hooked on EverQuest, killing and plundering content as quickly as they fork it out!<br><br>Anyways, back to our regularly scheduled program:<br><br><img> New Forum
- RStefan01 @ 29 Sep 2006 17:58 <a href="/forum/">Here</a>.<br><br>I know it looks like crap and various links are broken, probably won't get around to fixing that until tomorrow, but at least it's functional. That old Ikonboard script was really outdated, and I was just tired of dealing with it. This new one should be faster, and hopefully won't break every other week. Forum Fixed
- RStefan01 @ 08 Sep 2006 00:32 Support finally got back to me, turns out my SQL password never got changed, so I sat down and finally figured out what was wrong. The SQL database information is stored in a file with an encrypted name. Somehow a second file got created that the script read from instead of the correct one, and the information inside of it wasn't correct, so the forum didn't work. I deleted that and everything appears back to normal, but I've got no idea how it got there in the first place. It may have been related to those internal server errors yesterday, but who knows. Forum Problems
- RStefan01 @ 07 Sep 2006 15:22 I'm not exactly sure what's going on. There were constant internal server errors yesterday, and now it won't connect to the MySQL database. Trying to contact support to see what's going on. I sat in their IRC channel for half an hour with no response (which is odd for them), so maybe I'm not the only one being affected. St. Louis Storms
- RStefan01 @ 24 Jul 2006 12:02 You probably heard about it on the news, but if not, I included some links. I posted everything <a href="/cgi-bin/ikb/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=1496">here in the forum</a> since there are a good amount of pictures. /wave Disk Quota Errors
- RStefan01 @ 18 Jun 2006 17:36 Ok, that *should* be the last time those pop up. Somehow the read-only settings on the web and mail cache files got reversed and the files ate up all my disk space again. Instead of asking to have them fixed for the fourth time, I instead asked for some more disk space. It turns out the plan I was on had been upgraded a while back, but I wasn't automatically given the extra disk space. Now that I've got 400 megs more disk space, it shouldn't be an issue again! Ugh
- RStefan01 @ 10 Jun 2006 14:16 For all the people that care (yes, you), you probably noticed the forums were returning a disk quota error again. This is the third time my log/statistic/misc files have grown to rediculous sizes and eaten up all of my server space, but this time it's supposedly fixed for good.<br><br>For those curious (I know you are), I've got 400 megs of space on this hosting plan, and that garbage was eating up near 250 megs of it. I had just about everything except for the actual web logs disabled. The web and mail cache files alone were taking up about 150 megs of space.<br><br>One other thing of interest (yes, it's interesting): My mail logs take up damn near as much space as my web logs. Fucking spam. |
